Gastroparesis is a common condition where food doesn’t empty normally from your stomach. Symptoms of gastroparesis include nausea, vomiting, feeling full after only a few bites of food, abdominal pain, bloating and lack of appetite. Gastroparesis can cause weight loss, malnutrition, and dehydration. This condition can be especially problematic for individuals with diabetes because it adversely affects glycemic control.

Cairn Diagnostics developed the 13C-Spirulina Gastric Emptying Breath Test (GEBT) to evaluate the rate of solid phase gastric emptying and identify gastroparesis.

GEBT is a safe, standardized and FDA-approved alternative to nuclear medicine-based scintigraphy.

The test is available for use in both clinical practice and research and can be administered at home through telehealth.
