In ancient times, travelers navigating uncertain or rugged terrain would stack stones—known as cairns—to mark the path ahead. These simple, thoughtful markers brought reassurance and direction to those who followed.
At Cairn Diagnostics, we’ve taken that same philosophy and applied it to the healthcare journey. Diagnosing gastroparesis can be a complex, confusing, and often delayed process. Our mission is to provide clinicians and patients with tools that bring clarity, direction, and confidence—just like those ancient stone guides.
Why “Cairn”?
Our name is more than symbolic. It reflects the intentionality behind everything we do.
Cairn Diagnostics was founded by Kerry Bush, who spent decades developing innovative diagnostic tools that have shaped modern medicine—including the first non-invasive breath test for H. pylori and a neonatal screening test for Galactosemia. These breakthroughs laid the foundation for what would become GEBT, the first and only FDA-approved breath test for delayed gastric emptying.
Kerry chose the name “Cairn” because he envisioned a company that helps healthcare providers find their way through diagnostic uncertainty—offering guidance, not guesswork.
Built on Experience, Led by Experts
Behind every test kit, lab result, and streamlined process is a team dedicated to excellence in science and service.
Dr. Catherine Williams, our Chief Scientist and Compliance Officer, ensures every GEBT result is backed by the highest standards in clinical laboratory practice. With deep expertise in quality systems and lab operations, she has helped elevate GEBT as a scientifically rigorous and trustworthy alternative to traditional gastric emptying studies.
Tyler Hill, M.S., brings a strong foundation in biotechnology and operational management to his work supporting logistics, provider onboarding, and process improvements. With a Master of Science in Professional Science from Middle Tennessee State University, Tyler plays a key role in keeping our solutions accessible, efficient, and reliable.
Darci Conway, our Director of Client Services and Clinical Trial Operations, ensures healthcare providers and research partners experience exceptional support at every stage. Her leadership helps maintain the high level of service that sets Cairn apart—whether you’re using GEBT in a clinic, remotely through telehealth, or as part of a clinical study.
These leaders—and the team behind them—embody the commitment at the core of Cairn Diagnostics: to guide, support, and advance the future of diagnostic care.
Lighting the Path in Digestive Health
The Gastric Emptying Breath Test (GEBT) was created to address longstanding barriers in gastroparesis diagnosis:
- Variability in test results
- Limited access to nuclear medicine
- Patient discomfort and safety concerns
By offering a non-radioactive, standardized, telehealth-enabled alternative, GEBT brings diagnostic clarity within reach—no matter where the patient is located.
With every test we process and every provider we support, we aim to be a reliable marker on the journey toward better care.
